Silvana and Tommaso an Autumn Wedding in Florence

Silvana and Tommaso’s wedding was truly special and deeply moving. When Tommaso Ficari, head of Genius Eventi & Blanc Weddings for several years, decided to marry Silvana, it was clear that it would be an intimate and authentic event, just like their first meeting in Milan.

Tommaso e Silvana

A chance encounter that connected Milan, Florence, and Naples, where Tommaso chose to surprise her with a family ring, redesigned together with Fratelli Piccini, the historic jeweler on Ponte Vecchio. Their love has been a journey of emotions and meaningful choices.

A dream wedding organized in less than a month

The couple wanted a natural and spontaneous wedding, choosing a date very close to the proposal. Despite the limited time available, thanks to Tommaso’s industry experience and Silvana’s impeccable taste for details, the event quickly took shape. The result? A wedding that captivated Florence and even caught the attention of Vogue Italia, which praised its minimalist decor, perfectly balanced with the opulence of the historical setting, and the unique choices for the bride’s four different outfits.

Why choose an autumn wedding in Florence

Many couples hesitate to plan an off-season wedding—especially in autumn or winter—but getting married during this time can be a winning choice. From October to March, Florence offers a more intimate and exclusive atmosphere, far from the peak tourist crowds. It’s also a wonderful opportunity for guests to experience the Tuscan capital in a quieter, more authentic setting.

For those concerned about unpredictable weather, this wedding is proof that less conventional seasons can surprise with unexpected, refined details. From the choice of venue to the bridal wardrobe, every element was thoughtfully curated: a show-stopping winter gown for the welcome dinner at Teatro del Sale and a vintage Chanel suit for the civil ceremony.

The ceremony at Palazzo Vecchio

For their “I do,” Silvana and Tommaso chose the Red Hall of Palazzo Vecchio, one of Florence’s most iconic venues. Surrounded by frescoes and precious velvets, they celebrated an intimate and deeply emotional ceremony, sharing the moment with friends from all over the world. Officiating the ceremony was Jacopo, a dear friend of the couple, making the moment even more personal. For those opting for a civil wedding in Italy, Florence offers one of the most charming town halls, rivaling the grandeur of a church and providing unique emotions and stunning backdrops for photographs.

The reception at Palazzo Portinari

Florence is the perfect city for an autumn wedding because it offers extraordinary indoor venues, thanks to its many noble palaces located just steps from each other. The frescoes and period furnishings create an enchanting atmosphere that rivals the beauty of a sunny summer day outdoors. For their reception, Tommaso and Silvana chose Palazzo Portinari Salviati, recently restored to shine in all its majesty. In the Beatrice Gallery, once home to Dante’s muse, a long imperial table was set up, illuminated by hundreds of candles, creating an intimate and timeless ambiance.

A minimal wedding with white orchids

While the historic frescoes by Alessandro Allori and the furnishings evoked solemn elegance, the couple’s desire was to offer a refined and intimate reception. The floral arrangements, masterfully curated by Nadia of Stiatti Fiori, featured only white orchids, a contemporary and sophisticated touch. An unconventional choice compared to typical autumn flowers, but rich in meaning: white orchids are the national flower of Colombia, Silvana’s home country, making them a heartfelt tribute to her roots.

A seasonal menu and a chic cake

The catering, entrusted to chef Vito Mollica, who has his Michelin-starred restaurant at Palazzo Portinari, presented a menu inspired by Tuscan tradition with a contemporary twist. Seasonality guided the choice of ingredients, resulting in refined dishes perfectly in harmony with the event. For the wedding cake, an unexpected, retro yet chic option was chosen: a dramatic profiterole tower, with each cream puff glazed in caramel, achieving the perfect balance of crunchiness and sweetness.

Memories captured in the wedding album

Capturing every emotion of the day was Alessia Angelotti, who created an authentic photographic reportage of this autumn wedding in Florence. Thanks to the couple’s vision, the Blanc Weddings team found the perfect balance between modernity, intimacy, and personal details, adding a sophisticated and minimal touch to a historic Florentine palace. Florence, with its unique settings and historic residences, offers elegant and atmospheric indoor venues for receptions, just as stunning as outdoor celebrations.
